On Enchanted Rabbit Mountain—set amidst the pine forests of Oregon’s Siskiyou Mountains—Robert and I take our guests on long horseback rides along the Pacific Crest Trail that stretches from Canada to Mexico. In summer, the air is dry and brittle.
In fall the leaves are turning and the wind blows hot. Coyotes, bears, squirrels, raccoons, deer and bobcat abound. In the winter, the horses plod through up to six feet of fresh fallen snow. A magical experience for all, in spite of frozen toes inside wet Sorel lace-up boots.
Here I am feeding Morocco, one of eight Quarter Horses on the ranch.
