Raised in Hollywood, I was born with stars in my eyes. I attended UCLA and the Neighborhood Playhouse and studied with teachers from The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. I became an actor, model and writer, working both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. I collaborated on scripts, wrote a column for the Hollywood Citizen News, sold my illustrations and cartoons to newspapers and magazines and published my first three books in my early twenties.

Lunch with Groucho Marx at his Trousdale Estate was an unforgettable experience. While I interviewed Groucho, we shared a cigar, and he enthralled me with tales about the off-camera antics of his brothers and their famous straight woman, Margaret Dumont. “Would you like to take a swim?” he asked with raised eyebrow.
“You can leave your hat on.”
